Amazon Sr. Software Dev Manager, Search, Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques in Palo Alto, California

Description

Amazon is the 4th most popular site in the US. Our product search engine, one of the most heavily used services in the world, indexes billions of products and serves hundreds of millions of customers world-wide. We are working on a new initiative to transform our search engine into a shopping engine that assists customers with their shopping missions. We look at all aspects of search CX, query understanding, Ranking, Indexing and ask how we can make big step improvements by applying advanced Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques. You will be working alongside world-class scientists and ML experts from leading research labs and academia, on bringing cutting edge DL strategies to search domain. On the engineering side, our team has Lucene contributors who work on enhancing the native matching capabilities of the search engine and close partnerships with the AWS Sagemaker teams on improving the platform to support our scale.

We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead the Training Platform for Amazon Search. In this role, you will manage and grow a team of engineers with background in machine learning, distributed systems to architect the MLOps pipelines to support experimentation, continuous integration, deployment (CI/CD), verification, validation, and monitoring of ML models in production. You will work with science teams across search to enable them to develop state-of-the-art DL models for. FSR, and work with the serving teams to bridge the offline and online serving systems.

Key job responsibilities

Driving the technical vision for ML Ops platform, you will be the primary domain expert to influence technology choices

Building a team culture around technical excellence and strong delivery. Managing a team of engineers and managers to deliver a seamless ML Ops platform.

Collaborate with cross functional teams to capture requirements, understand dependencies, define architecture, and

implement scalable solutions.

Deliver Ability to understand ML concepts would benefit immensely when collaborating with Applied Scientists in Search and partner teams

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams

  • Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $176,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
