The Senior Systems Integration Engineer has the responsibility for planning, designing, building, testing, implementing, and documenting interfaces and databases to support defined business requirements. Manages the integration engine application. Provides a formal turnover to related production support services. May assist in the implementation of interfaces, databases, and applications by leading project teams, training personnel and providing guidance to staff and users.

Performs independent work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various complex factors. Within broadly defined parameters, exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results for planning and managing technology system implementations and enhancements to existing systems.

Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Develops interface and database designs and specifications based upon identified business needs by using structured analysis techniques, and technical and specific business knowledge.

  • Coordinates user/Information Services groups to identify solution options for meeting business needs. May provide services through distance support approach, utilizing systems, technology, and applications to perform various tasks.

  • Participates in the creation of integration application, interface, database, and Epic Bridges development and support standards. Performs integration engine, interface, database and Epic Bridges development and support according to the set forth standards.

  • Collaborates with others to identify and assess organizational strategies to meet user operational needs, such as workflow and systems/applications.

  • Communicates specifications to technical staff for implementation of technology solutions. Executes specifications or coordinates specification execution.

  • Performs integration engine, interface, and database development and various support tasks.

  • Oversees and/or develops testing, training, security, support, and business continuity plans ensuring designs meet defined business requirements. Executes or coordinates plans as needed.

  • Provides a formal turnover to related production support services within Information Services and user departments. Provides production support in functional area.

  • Acts as a liaison between users and Information Services in abnormal operating conditions. Opens and updates incidents or requests, and documents resolutions in the IS service management system.

  • Oversees or provides ongoing training to users and Information Services staff.

  • Represents assigned client/application base to Information Services staff.

  • Performs in the role of project manager or project coordinator for assigned projects. Follows departmental project management processes.

  • Provides input for the development of information services related policies and procedures. Makes recommendations for improvement to management.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in assigned areas. Stays current with health care information system applications, business environments, and trends.

  • Acts as a mentor and resource to other Information Services staff. Collaborates with all staff. Represents management as requested in manager's absence.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

    Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.

    Experience: Eight (8) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

    License/Certificate: Lyniate Rhapsody Associate and Professional Certifications

  • Epic Bridges Certification or certification within first nine (9) months of employment.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge and ability to assess business requirements, create technical designs/specifications, follow project management processes and life cycle, and provide production support and services.

  • Knowledge and ability to apply structured analysis concepts, problem management concepts, and organizational analysis with a focus on information systems.

  • Knowledge and ability to analyze complex factors and select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for the purpose of planning and managing technology systems.

  • Knowledge and ability to use technical applications/protocols/processes/programming, interfaces, and databases typically found in healthcare environments as well as HL7 Standards at a level appropriate for the job.

  • Knowledge and understanding of information system integrations to meet organizational business needs.

  • Ability to identify solutions and solve problems.

  • Ability to research and interpret relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards.

  • Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions.

  • Ability to foster effective relationships and build consensus.

  • Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job.

  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $149,385.60 to $195,312.00
