Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research CR Research Associate - Implementation Science Trainee in Palo Alto, California

Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) is seeking a full-timeClinical Research Associate- Implementation Science Trainee.The Research Associate will be working on research to improve the quality of medical therapy for heart failure. This role will include helping coordinate and lead a multicenter quality improvement study on promoting pharmacist optimization of heart failure therapy. This will include joining project meetings, leading data analyses, developing educational materials, and leading educational sessions. The associate will author manuscripts from projects related to quality of medical therapy among individuals' chronic cardiovascular disease and will also learn skills in clinical research and implementation science via experiential learning and formal didactics. They will be responsible for participating in weekly lab meetings, biweekly research presentations, and joining biannual AHA research meetings.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop study protocols;
  • Analyze data from studies;
  • Prepare presentations;
  • Perform chart reviews;
  • Write papers on projects for publication;
  • Present findings at local and national meetings;
  • Receive training in implementation science;
  • Receive training in clinical research and biostatatistics;
  • Participate in team meetings;
  • Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required:Advanced Doctorate Degree (ex. M.D., DDS, or Pharm.D.);
  • At least 1 year of prior research experience in clinical medicine;
  • Desired:
    • Advanced knowledge of scientific research methodology;
    • Ability to troubleshoot as necessary;
    • Exquisite record keeping and experimental documentation capabilities;
    • Excellent organizational skills;
    • Strong scientific writing skills and demonstrated capacity to drive first author publications;
    • Knowledge of research procedures and protocols gained through education or experience;
    • Experience in a variety of research techniques/methods and follow-up data collection;
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including public speaking skills;
    • Ability to work independently and proactively;
    • Ability to work within a team context and collaborate with other lab personnel.
