As the Maintenance Technician in this plant your primary job requirement is to follow the plant maintenance program. Included are the repair, replacement, lubrication and inspection of parts or equipment in production and around the facility. Work is completed out in the plant site or at a bench in the maintenance shop. Weekend work and overtime may be a requirement. .

Shift Available: Day shift

Compensation: $28.00/hr-$30.00/hr

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure safe, timely and satisfactory completion of all mechanical maintenance work

  • Maintain and improve the plants preventive/predictive maintenance system

  • Lead problem solving and analyze results of maintenance repairs to ensure plant objectives are met

  • Maintain a professional relationship by active collaboration with other departments in the plant

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Required qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.

  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling,pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts

  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations with absolute commitment to safety

  • Rotating on-call weekends, occasional shift rotation, holidays, overtime and additional hours beyond regularly scheduled

  • Shift for occasional emergency or planned routine maintenance

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience in production related work

  • Able to perform maintenance trades including gearbox and bearing, maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems,mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic.

  • Able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold

  • Able to operate heavy equipment

  • Previous forklift experience

  • High School diploma or Equivalent

  • Practical ‘hands on’ experience in a manufacturing/agricultural environment.

  • Knowledge of the Maintenance Reliability process (predictive and preventative maintenance) and PredictiveTechnologies

  • Automation control, boiler and steam systems training and experience.

  • Mechanical aptitude to work from all types of blueprints, maintenance manuals, and drawings and the mathematicalknowledge required for such work
