Palm Springs Treatment Center dba Michael’s House, The Addictions Division of UHS, Inc. is the premier provider of integrated treatment for co-occurring addiction and mental health concerns, offering residential and outpatient services nationwide. Michael’s House is currently seeking Per Diem Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) responsible for monitoring patients’ medical needs, coordinating outside medical appointments. Supervises patients, as they self-administer medications, adheres to all documentation standards, tracks TB skins tests, monitors random drug screens, transcribes and follows up on doctors’ orders. Assists psychiatrist/nurse practitioner/physician’s assistant in providing incidental medical services as needed. The ideal candidate will have the ability to inspire our clients’ confidence in both our staff and the FRN Model of Treatment by exhibiting a high level of both knowledge and compassion. Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Monitors medication process for individuals living in residential facilities including supervision or medication distribution, supervising self-administration process.• Prepares medication Administration Record (MAR)• Obtains, stores and monitors medications according to policy and procedure• Meets quality, quantity, and timeliness of expectations of accuracy, completeness, volume consistent with peers and relative to time in position, completing work as schedule, demonstrating self-paced performance and adjusting priorities as needed and is responsive to feedback.• Cross trains and supports nursing teams at all centers• Adheres to company policy of documentation standards• Performs other duties as assigned.

IMS PROTOCOL:• Under the direction of the Medical Director, nursing staff may be responsible for following all IMS protocol, including:o Assistance in obtaining all medical histories.o Monitoring client health status and reporting any nursing concerns or changes in patient condition to the appropriate medical provider to determine whether the health status warrants transfer of the client in order to receive urgent or emergent care.o Coordinating testing associated with detoxification from alcohol or drugs.o Participating with medical providers in providing alcoholism or drug abuse recovery or treatment services.o Overseeing patient self-administered medication and recording in the EMR.o Providing nursing services for patients being treated for substance abuse disorders, including detoxification.

MAT CRITERIA:• Overseeing self-administered medication prescribed to patients by the treating medical provider, and documenting same in the EMR, TIER and elsewhere, as appropriate.• Timely and accurate recordkeeping and utilization of all required forms and entry into EMR.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities• Ability to inspire client confidence in the FRN Staff and the FRN Model of Treatment.• Ability to consistently demonstrate through conduct and communications the stability required to effectively assist patients and their family members through the FRN Model of Treatment.• Ability to build relationships with diverse individuals and groups.• Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts. Adheres to HIPAA standards• Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands• Must have general knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in work processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Work, Excel, and PowerPoint).• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.• Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and the ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the organization.

Educations and Experience• Licensure: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT), • Licensed or certified as a chemical dependency counselor/ or registered to become licensed or certified within 90 days of hire.• At least one year working within a healthcare facility preferred.• Experience working with patients diagnosed with co-occurring disorders strongly preferred.• Sound knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in work processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, EMR, TIER or similar and Microsoft Office Suite) required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands• Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours• Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up the 40 pounds• Position requires some work on the computer requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity• Ability to read, write, and analyze detailed and complex information
