Job Description:

The Valente laboratory is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and organized research assistant II that will be helping a Staff Scientist to characterize the molecular interactions occurring between host proteins and viral proteins to modulate HIV expression, along with determining the mechanism of small molecules active against HIV.

Duties will include:

Performing a variety of biochemical, bio-cellular, microbiology, and virology experiments e.g. cell culture, cloning, flow cytometry, western blot, protein and chromatin immunoprecipitations, protein production, nucleic acids extractions and purifications.

The candidate should be flexible, able to multitask, independently motivated with an ability to work in teams, and should have the ability to communicate clearly through oral presentation and technical writing.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of experience; a masters degree and two or more years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with small molecules active against HIV.
