Job Description:

L3Harris has an immediate opening for a an experienced EEE Component Engineer to join our growing team. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting our Palm Bay location in the development of high technology airborne and ground programs. This includes all phases of product development from proposals, advanced research and development through design and on to production support. Tasks will include development of component requirements, parts selection, addressing obsolescence issues and working closely with design engineering, supply chain, quality, and reliability.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate specified and derived program requirements applicable to PM&P (Parts Materials & Processes).

  • Provide inputs to program to ensure implementation of PM&P requirements.

  • Provide leadership in the implementation of PM&P requirements.

  • Provide leadership using current engineering principles in the early review of PM&P selection.

  • Manage and resolve obsolescence/End of Life(EOL) issues.

  • Document specifications of parts or equipment to meet PM&P requirements.

  • Standardize and consolidate parts and processes.

  • Technical risk management of custom or long-lead parts.

  • Resolve supplier technical problems.

  • Resolve part-related manufacturing problems.

  • Perform GIDEP and PCN Alerts management.

  • Utilization of product data management tools and bill of material (BOM) grading tools such as Agile PDM, Matrix, Silicon Experts or IHS.

  • US travel approximately 4 trips of 1-2 day durations per year.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field, and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering.

  • Experience in failure analysis/RCCA.

  • Experience with electronic obsolescence tools and methods.

  • Eligible for a security clearance.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft office tools.

  • Experience with grading tools such as Agile PDM, Matrix, Silicon Experts or IHS.

  • Experience with and in-depth technical knowledge of but not limited to passive and active electronic components, connectors, wire and cable, metal finishes, tin whisker mitigation, lead-free control, obsolescence and end of life management, COTS, and counterfeit parts.

  • Experience in military design requirement and military environments..

  • Experience participating in PMPCB reviews, including preparation and presentation of approval requests for non-standard parts.

  • Experience resenting results and communicate with Customers, Consultants, and Senior Management.

  • Active Secret or TS security clearance highly desired.
