Job Description:

We are looking for driven Chief Mechanical Engineer to perform research, development, design, and analysis tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision mechanisms, electro-mechanical hardware, and complex electronic packaging, in a program team environment. Program support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing. Candidate must have experience in 3D modeling, critical HW design and development, and the ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead development of system level architecture for customer mission requirements

  • Support business as Chief Mechanical Engineer for Rogue and Dark Horse programs (and associated follow-on efforts)

  • Interface with customer, partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders in demonstrating technical capabilities

  • Integral member of future roadmapping efforts for the company and customer missions

  • Lead team(s) of 10-25 engineers

  • Cognizant backup to IPTLs, PE, and PM as necessary to sustain development schedules

  • Participate in working groups comprised of members from across program area community

  • Maintain a strong relationship with specific customer programs, customer personnel, and partners

  • Ability to make critical technical and programmatic decisions

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

  • Top Secret/SCI clearance with favorably adjudicated polygraph

  • Already possess tickets for Rogue and Dark Horse program areas

  • Experience interfacing with subcontractors, development of requirements documents, and writing technical SOWs

  • Prior or current experience with CAD tools such as Creo and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of precision mechanisms and hardware development and in-depth knowledge of project management.

  • Experience in design or development of precision mechanisms and mechatronic systems.

  • Experience in additive manufacturing, part optimization and design for manufacture and assembly.

  • Experience with actuators, custom gear trains, fluid systems, electro-optical systems, materials testing, and manufacturing processes.
