Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Scope of Position:

Process technician within the Diesel Manufacturing Firing Engineering Department involved with supporting capacity and cost reduction initiatives. Technician role requires interaction with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to achieve project objectives, data collection/mining, preliminary data analysis and general experimental support.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide coverage during experiments

  • Mining plant systems for data, organizing and analyzing the data

  • Ware inspection for defects, tracking and logistics

  • Using Excel and/or other tools (Jmp, Minitab, Tableau, etc) for data analysis

  • Experiment logistics and experiment execution

  • Lead smaller process improvement projects

  • Equipment/process audits

Education/Years of Experience

  • Minimum 2 year Associate Degree in a technical field preferred

  • 0-3 years’ experience in technical/manufacturing

Required Skills:

  • Strong work ethic and desire to exceed expectations with the ability to work in a team-based environment

  • Technically curious, self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong organizational skills, rigorous attention to detail and ability to deal with complexity

  • Some equipment / process aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and characterize key process drivers.

  • Able to work with data and communicate results from data with proficiency in Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word)

Desired Skills:

  • Process engineering technician experience

  • Prior ceramic substrate/filter manufacturing experience

  • Manufacturing plant experience - successful applicant needs to be able to interact with operators and key receivers.

  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)

The range for this position is $55,599.00 - $76,449.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
