LEX PRODUCTS, LLC Job Responsibility: Cable CutterDepartment:Lex West Warehouse Cable Cutters are responsible for preparing cable for production by cutting spools of cable into lengths that meet customer requirements. Based on specific job orders Cable Cutters cut cables, of all sizes and types, either manually or with an electric cable cutter. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completely and accurately follow written and oral instructions.
  • Follow and adhere to all company and departmental procedures, policies and safety rules.
  • Follow BOM of any Job order and kit parts according to JOBOM required quantity.
  • Differentiate between different cable types and sizes.
  • Identify and know the location of the parts in the warehouse
  • Operate pallet jacks while moving cable spools and pallets around warehouse and production areas.
  • Safely operate electric cable cutter machines and hand tools.
  • Measure and cut cable according to job order specifications.
  • Tag cut lengths so that the cable type/size is easily identifiable.
  • Account for all scrap cable and store in proper locations.
  • Timely and accurately job order and other paperwork to ensure correct product/job identification.
  • Communicate with managers, peers, and subordinates on a routine basis.
  • Promptly report to supervisor all observations that ensure the department and Lex remain safe and efficient.
  • Maintain a clean work environment (may require sweeping, mopping, trash removal)
  • Use good judgment in performing tasks correctly the first time through.
  • Help fill in other production processes in order to meet customer deadlines.
  • Maintain a good work attendance so that Assemblers can timely obtain cable to satisfy customer delivery date requests.
  • Work overtime when needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Ability to use hand tools, cable cutting machinery and to carry out other tasks safely.
  • Ability to push/pull large reels of cable.
  • Ability to read job order traveler, job order pick list and interpret shop drawings.
  • Basic math skills including the ability to make accurate measurements of length.
  • Ability to work in metric and English units of measure.
  • Ability to read Bill of Material on Job/Work Orders.
  • Ability to read blue prints, schematics, and other manufacturing information.
  • Basic data entry computer skills are preferred.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted throughout the day.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
