As a Senior Staff Compliance Engineer, you will be a crucial part of our engineering team, responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and codes for our power systems. Your expertise in UL1741SB, IEEE1547, NEC Code, UL1998 will play a pivotal role in certifying the safety, reliability, and performance of our products, empowering us to deliver industry-leading solutions to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Management: Lead and manage the overall compliance process, ensuring our power systems adhere to UL1741SB, IEEE1547, NEC Code, UL1998, and other applicable industry standards and regulations.

  • Standard Interpretation: Interpret and apply complex standards and codes to our power systems' design, installation, testing, and documentation processes.

  • Design Validation: Collaborate with design and engineering teams to review and validate power systems designs, ensuring they meet all relevant compliance requirements.

  • Testing and Certification: Plan and conduct comprehensive testing and evaluation of power systems to achieve certification and compliance with relevant standards.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed compliance documentation, including test plans, test reports, risk assessments, and other required documentation.

  • Regulatory Updates: Stay up to date with changes in industry standards, codes, and regulations, and implement necessary updates in our products and processes.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential compliance risks and work with cross-functional teams to implement mitigation strategies.

  • Collaboration and Training: Collaborate with various departments, including engineering, product management, and quality assurance, to ensure a clear understanding of compliance requirements. Provide training and guidance on compliance-related matters to internal stakeholders.

  • Industry Engagement: Engage with industry bodies, standardization organizations, and regulatory agencies to stay informed about the latest developments and best practices in power systems compliance.

  • ISO-17025 Lab Control and Maintenance. Maintain an ETL compliant satellite testing facility.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of 5+ years of experience in compliance engineering, with a specific focus on power systems standards, such as UL1741SB, IEEE1547, NEC Code, and UL1998.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of power systems design, installation, testing, and certification processes.

  • Familiarity with relevant compliance testing and evaluation procedures for power systems.

  • Strong understanding of safety standards and best practices in power systems design and operation.

  • Experience working with certification bodies and regulatory agencies for compliance certification.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead projects, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance documentation.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in (Pacific Palisades, CA ) is $130,000 - $161,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long term incentives.
