Job Summary: The Director Sales (Clean Energy) is responsible for leading and directing the sales team to achieve short and long-range strategic objectives through successful planning and execution of sales strategies for the Clean Energy channel and assigned region. The Director Sales is responsible for the entire range of sales planning and development, sales promotion, and sales activities. This role drives market/field/end user input back to the organization to improve positioning with programs, product development, and end user support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales planning & development, sales promotions & activities

  • Set objectives that align with company strategy

  • Develops and manages sales & operating budgets

  • Reviews performance metrics, reports and develops actions plans to ensure performance targets are met

  • Input on pricing to achieve margin objectives

  • Provide input to Product Development and Engineering

  • Partner with marketing to integrate market development strategies

  • Drive short and long-range strategic objectives by supporting company strategies

  • Understand regional markets

  • Establish field sales goals

  • Grow sales in existing markets and establishing new customers

  • Coach, motivate & mentor field sales team

  • Set and drive sales goals that aligns with overall strategy

  • Manage internal talent through performance management & succession planning

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

  • 5 years successful sales experience

  • 3 years sales leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in the renewable energy industry

  • Experience managing distribution channels

  • Experience executing sales training

  • Proven successful sales track-record.

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Experience with leading a successful field sales team

  • Advanced negotiating skills

  • Complex account management skills

  • Strong financial acumen

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Travel as required up to 50%.

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in (California) is $157,000 - $251,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long term incentives.
