Viracon Process Technician - MTW Nights in Owatonna, Minnesota

Viracon Inc. Function: Operate one of the Vacuum Coating lines within Viracon to safely produce coated glass products that meet all required quality standards while maintaining maximum efficiency of the equipment and to run within established production schedules. Essential Job Responsibilities: Operate the coating line in such a manner to produce coated glass that meets all acceptable specifications for optical quality, coating durability and visual requirements according to established operating procedures. Monitor controls throughout the shift, making adjustments for variations in operating conditions to maintain acceptable coating products. Learn coating design and sputtering behavior in order to control the deposition parameters of the different coating types. Maintain knowledge in the use of all quality equipment and acquire an understanding of the information the equipment supplies. Maintains awareness with the Supervisor, QA Tech and unload on coating yields. Documentation of daily operating events such as downtime, coating changes, etc. will be required to be entered into the computer using the MME log software. Advise maintenance and engineering of any repair or preventative maintenance requirements on the coating line or coating equipment. Assist in the training of new operators, in the development of new products or in the use of new technology to improve our present process. Will abide by and support Viracon safety and personnel policies. Maintains an effective working relationship with all hourly employees, office staff and management personnel. Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times. Will perform reasonably similar, or related, duties as assigned. Perform duties for another Process Technician, Quality Technician and Coating Inspector as needed. Performs duties in accordance with the Business Process Documentation. Participates in Viracon's Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team's performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent GED with the willingness to participate in continuing education and one year experience in machine operation is required. Two year electrical or mechanical technical education as well as Supervisory or Management experience is preferred. Required to take the Viracon Coating Technology Training and meet the minimum requirements of the training within 12 months of accepting the position. Dependable - Outstanding attendance with the ability to work overtime and be flexible with both work schedules and task assignments. The understanding of color measurement as well as knowledge in the use of optical testing equipment. Knowledge in the operation of Magnetic Sputtering Vacuum Deposition equipment used in the glass coating industry. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to read and understand work instructions (English). Mathematical skills as related to measurements. The candidate must be able to operate a computer. Regular full-time attendance.
