Steele County Arena/Park Maintenance Worker in Owatonna, Minnesota

Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Parks and Recreation/Four Seasons Centre, the Part-Time Area/Park Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of functions and activities associated with facility/event set-ups and tear downs for ice and dry floor events; performing ice sheet maintenance, care and resurfacing; performing facility custodial activities; performing building and ground maintenance activities at County parks/recreational areas. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lays out and prepares arena for various activities; sets up and tears down ice rink; prepares and sets up and tears down needs for dry floor activities. Maintains park and recreation areas; mows grass, operates weed whips; rakes sand beach; picks up and empties trash; cleans restrooms and park facilities. Sets up and delivers show mobile and small stage. Maintains ice sheet; resurfaces ice; edges ice rink; floods ice; sharpens skates. Learns and monitors ice plant. Operates scoreboard and lighting and sound equipment; sells tickets. Performs a variety of custodial duties such as washing, sweeping, vacuuming, polishing, mopping, mowing grass, and removing snow. Performs various routine carpentry, electrical, painting and plumbing tasks. Assists in and supervises hockey games and tournaments, banquets, dances and other arena activities. Assists facility users with needs, concerns and/or requests. Provides high quality customer service to internal and external users and customers. Follows customer service best practices. Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required.
