A. Duda & Sons Inc. Corporate Accountant in Oviedo, Florida

Duda is seeking a full-time, salaried Corporate Accountant to work in our Oviedo offices.  This position is primarily in office with the potential for one day remote per week after training period.

Job Summary:

The Corporate Accountant will assist with preparation and timely delivery of accurate financial information for A. Duda & Sons, Inc. – Corporate and Consolidated.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepares monthly and year-end financial package for the Corporate Division and ADS & Subs Elimination Company including balance sheet, income statement, monthly financial write-up, expense variance report and account analysis.  Publish monthly consolidated reporting documents by specified due dates including the FLASH report and consolidated Notes & Mortgage schedule.

  • Maintain individual shareholder loan accounts as well as the consolidated worksheet.  This includes setup of new accounts (requesting vendor setup if needed, and obtaining proper paperwork), processing withdrawal requests, validating deposit amounts are within set guidelines, and calculating and processing semiannual interest payments on these loans.  Reviews and allocates prepaid insurance charges, worker's compensation, prepaid land rent, and property taxes.  Prepares schedules for the Budgeting process for certain centrally controlled detail codes.

  • Performs year-end closing tasks, including journal entries, gathering backup information to support account balances, updating notes & mortgages activities, and reporting results to management.  Prepares, in Excel, year-end lead schedules for all divisions and Flux worksheets for Corporate and the ADS & Subs Elimination Companies.  Supplies supporting spreadsheets using reporting tools and pivot tables. Timely updating of year-end closing schedule assigned tasks, including status notes and completion dates.

  • Review new credit agreements, set up due date timetable and party responsible for the task, and update reporting requirements schedule for bank compliance.  Timely completion of bank compliance reports and supporting schedules.

  • Reconciles all payroll bank accounts and processes any adjustments needed. Reviews Form 1099 data for the Corporate Division for accuracy, makes necessary correction entries if needed, and notifies Accounts Payable Supervisor when ready for filing.  Monitors and files abandoned property reports for multiple states.

  • Reviews Corporate Division disbursement vouchers for accuracy.  Reviews/reconciles various clearing accounts for all consolidated entities as well as payroll liability and payroll advance accounts.

  • Other special projects as assigned by the Assistant Corporate Controller.

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years accounting and auditing experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required

  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification is preferred

  • Must be proficient in both Excel and Word Microsoft programs
