JOB TITLE: Food Service Employee, Wilson 7:30am to 9:0am & 11:00 to 12:45pm (3.25 hours a day)

REPORTS TO: Director of Food and Nutritional Services and Food Service Managers

To plan and organize his/her own work under the direction of the School Food Service Manager, in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Food Service Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have general knowledge of large quantity cooking.

  • Must have ability to follow standardized recipes.

  • Must know how to operate all food service equipment.

  • Completion of School Food Service Short Courses 1 & 2 recommended.

  • Must be physically able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods of time and to walk much of the time during the day.

  • Must be able to work in warm surroundings.

  • Must be able to lift materials weighing at least 55 pounds.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • To assist in preparing standardized recipes and may assist in helping set up service areas, portioning and/or serving items prepared.

  • To understand and implement good nutrition in preparation and serving of the food items.

  • Able to operate various pieces of kitchen equipment such as fryer, chopper, slicer, convection ovens, steamers and various other equipment.

  • To help maintain control of food and supply costs with proper handling and storage procedures.

  • To assist in cleaning and storage of kitchen equipment, tables and floors. Example: pans, trays, vats, eating utensils, and mopping floors in case of a spill, washing tables between lunches, etc.

  • Is accurate in all areas of assigned work.

  • To maintain extremely high standards of sanitation for self and working area.

  • Be well informed in assigned jobs so quality of job is without question.

  • To take initiative to complete other duties without being urged to do so.

  • To work well with fellow employees, communicating with others and manager so little supervision is necessary.

  • Is polite and sociable with students and faculty.

  • To create a hassle-free environment with new ideas on easier methods to perform jobs assigned.

  • Is prompt and dependable about attending work, keeps involved in work-related activities, always alert and energetic.

  • Performs other such duties as assigned.
