Ford Motor Company Technical Specialist - DevOps in Ottawa, Ontario

The DevOps Technical Specialists, reporting into the DevOps function, are responsible for driving a diverse and highly skilled group of software engineers to deliver world class DevOps systems. This position has responsibility for driving development operations, providing services across the embedded vehicle systems – Vehicle systems, modems, in-vehicle infotainment, advanced driver assistance systems and beyond.

The candidate for this role must be able to adapt in a rapidly changing environment and drive consistency of purpose for a complex organization. Prior experience in driving cross functional teams in multifaceted technical and regulatory constrained environments is essential. The candidate will have demonstrated strong collaboration in delivering tehcnical initiatives. Prior experience in embedded systems and associated Industries is an advantage.

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Partner to re-define a technical vision, technical strategy, KPIs and architecture for this function – time from code to deploy.

  • Develop and drive a technology roadmap and roll-out plan for the systems – that include security and safety critical systems

  • Drive data discipline and best practices through the organization.

  • Ensure projects and roadmaps are progressed appropriately

The minimum requirements we seek

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science or Software Engineering. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)

  • 5+ years working in an associated technical field delivering embedded and development systems.

Our preferred requirements

  • Masters degree preferred.

  • Experience in implementing DevOps including for safety critical embedded systems.

  • Demonstrated time in role working in a multi-disciplined organization focused on delivering development efficiency

  • Excellent communication skills both up and down the organization to achieve the desired results.

  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated examples of applying systemic thinking, logic and reasoning skills to be able to identify opportunities, alternative solutions or approaches to problems.

  • Organizational skill: Strong collaboration skills, clear and concise direction coupled with an ability to move within the organization to complete work and balance tradeoffs.

  • Strategic thinking: Demonstrated examples of driving strategy from concept through to Production.
