Job Description

AECOM Building + Places Canada is actively seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer based out of either the Montreal OR Ottawa area, to join our team.

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

Job Summary:

In this position, you will be an important addition to the Structural Department of the Buildings + Places group, consisting of A/S/M/E/C disciplines all under one roof. You will participate in a wide variety of projects including subway stations and other transit facilities, vehicle storage/maintenance facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, municipal and industrial facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional engineer to play a key role in the design and construction of a wide variety of building structures and contribute to a dynamic team of engineers, architects and technicians with a focus on delivering high quality, innovative building design solutions.

We are looking for:

A fully competent engineer capable of using independent judgement to evaluate, analyze and design structures in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and other building materials, with thorough working knowledge of OBC, NBCC, and related codes/standards.

This person should be able to Interpret project requirements, develop proposed solutions, perform computer modelling, structural analysis and design calculations, comply with applicable codes and standards, prepare contract drawings and specifications, conduct field investigations, prepare reports, liaise with clients, supervise graduate engineers and CAD technicians, perform shop drawing review.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering

4 (four) + years of relevant experience in the design of building structures.

Licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer 8 (eight)+ years of experience designing subway stations and other transit facilities, vehicle storage/maintenance facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, first transponders municipal structures, and industrial facilities.

Skills in the areas of team building, collaboration and effective communications with colleagues, clients and contractors.

Ability to manage and supervise graduate engineers and CAD technicians.

Effective time-management, written communications skills, analytical and interpersonal skills as well as good decision making, planning and organizational skills.

Proven ability to meet required delivery dates for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to analyze and design structural elements using SAP2000 or similar structural analysis/design software.

Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word and Excel.

Good knowledge of French and English, both oral and written.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $130,000.00.
