Job Description Summary

The EHS Manager will work collaboratively with the assigned operational leaders and frontline cross functionally, to ensure safe execution from inquiry to remittance, fulfilling the EHS management system requirements, enterprise expectations, & interested parties need. The EHS manager needs to embrace the GEV way, innovating, serving our customers, with lean mindset, one team approach, and full accountability towards our commitments.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Grow Leadership EHS daily management.

  • Grow Frontline EHS engagement.

  • Review EHS risks and signoff on EHS considerations during the bid phase of outages.

  • Support EHS outage Plan creation and signoff on EHS readiness tasks

  • Orchestrate with leadership, EHS framework deployment inclusive of hazard heat map and proactive actions.

  • Provide day-to-day EHS support for service activities.

  • Provide immediate, direct support to field service employees that work at customer sites. Inclusive of training, inspections, customer interaction around planning and job execution. They are the first line contact for the field service engineers as they manage day to day EHS issues in service work.

  • Monitor outages EHS performance & organization level EHS performance.

  • Lead and monitor active EHS investigations.

  • Audit activities, & develop corrective, and preventive action to close any potential gaps.

  • Initiate risk reduction projects & continuous improvement plans based on leadership dialogs, data trending and frontline listening sessions.

  • Build and measure Site EHS professional competency and performance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the ISD-EHS Leader and/or Operational leader.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in curriculum related to Health & safety, or the equivalent in training and experience with a minimum of 10 years in an EHS related position in construction, power generation, or technical industry.

  • 10+ years of field experience

  • 8+ years of auditor experience

  • 3+ years’ experience with Taproot or similar methodology

  • Ability and willingness to travel 40% globally with minimal notice required, and as per business need.

  • English proficiency required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to form and lead a strong team across the matrix organization (ie. with or without direct reports)

  • Strong customer service skills, interpersonal, analytical, organizational and research skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Field experience related to outages in the power generation industry.

  • Work effectively with people from different culture and background

  • Ability to prepare accurate reports containing findings/recommendations and perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time sensitive deadlines.

  • Industrial equipment and facilities knowledge is desired.

  • Ability to recognize/mitigate organizational systemic risk and train others to recognize/mitigate task and project risk.

  • Skilled at Change Management processes

  • Green Belt Lean 6-Sigma or higher.

  • Kaizen facilitator

  • ISO 45001 / 14001 auditor

  • Certified trainer

  • Industrial Hygiene, Ergo, and electrical safety proven competency.

If hired in the U.S., the salary range for this position is $122,600 - $153,300 USD Annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus. Available benefits include Health and Retirement.
