Your Opportunity

The role of an Jr. / Intermediate Stream Restoration CAD Designer is to work on designing, and modelling, and preparing construction plans for stream restoration projects. You will be a team member of a larger ecological restoration team under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include CAD, design calculations and field work.

As an Jr. / Intermediate Stream Restoration CAD Designer, you will perform the computer assisted design of stream restoration design projects and may also assist in the analysis of proposed projects. You will use alignments, corridors, and Stantec’s Proprietary 3D Stream design software to develop design and construction drawings for stream restoration projects. The projects we work on include riverbank restoration, fish habitat enhancement and creation, river and creek realignment, and wetland creation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performs CAD design using knowledge of relevant software programs.

  • Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the completion of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer or project coordinator.

  • Performs basic calculations to analyze project components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

  • Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.

  • Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.

  • Performs a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure design integrity, reliability, resource efficiently and cost effectiveness.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Requires strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Working knowledge of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar material.

Education and Experience

  • 2 or 3 year Civil Engineering College program CAD TECH program

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Occasional opportunities for conducting field surveys and afield data collection.
