Summary
The Packaging Mechanic diagnoses packaging equipment problems, repairs minor and major breakdown of high-speed packaging equipment, sets up and installs all packaging equipment, performs preventative maintenance items, improves line efficiencies, and ensures all equipment is in safe working condition.
Key Responsibilities
Performs packaging equipment repair, overhaul, and troubleshooting of equipment; changes and replaces belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, etc.
Evaluates equipment for performance, performs adjustments, replaces parts, etc. as needed to ensure uninterrupted packaging of vegetables
Assists with the maintenance of a variety of packaging equipment: baggers, scales, case erectors.
Performs routine and non-routine checks and preventative maintenance tasks established by the Packaging Maintenance Manager
Familiar with proper start-up and shut down of packaging equipment
Performs other duties as assigned
Typical Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Relevant Experience
3+ years related experience and/or training
2+ year experience maintaining packaging equipment
Other Information
Good knowledge of Computer Systems.
Experience with troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic Systems.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to balance multiple tasks, be flexible and work well under pressure.
Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments.
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.
