Power Plant Services Machinist in Oswego, Illinois

Mission:

The Machinist performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments such as complex high precision parts for industrial equipment repairs.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine complex high precision parts for equipment repairs

  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments, such as micrometers or gauges.

  • Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

  • Evaluate procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.

  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management.

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow directed safety procedures.

  • Perform mechanical work as required, such as assembly and disassembly.

  • Manage and organize own work while remaining a team player and handling other assigned tasks as required by the company.

  • Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Position Requirements:

  • Experience in a manufacturing machining environment preferred.

  • Experienced with measuring tools.

  • Experienced with close tolerances, blueprint readings, and metric measurements.

  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to follow specific written instructions and procedures.

  • Exceptional organization and attention to details.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

  • Working knowledge of basic mathematical skills.

  • Willingness to learn with the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

  • Continually exhibit the qualities of trustworthiness, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.

  • Regular, consistent attendance is a requirement. Overtime as required by the company.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods of time.

  • A minimum of 3 years using manual machining equipment preferred.

  • Crane and forklift are a plus, but not necessary as we can train.

      Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Technical certification preferred.
