Individual with highly developed specialties in testing, research and development related to heavy-duty specialty vehicles and associated ancillary equipment.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Plans and directs the technical aspects of the most highly complex research and development programs related to heavy-duty vehicles and associate equipment

  • Synthesizes and analyzes studies which require application of advanced knowledge in a specific field.

  • May provide project direction and technical counsel to subordinate engineers

  • Researches, studies, and proposes use of new technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products

  • Directs design for complex test fixtures and apparatuses according to test requirements and analysis of engineering parameters associated with both the fixtures and the item being tested

  • Oversees construction and development of test fixtures

  • Supervise and monitor progress of testing

  • Recommend corrective actions needed to maintain schedule and cost targets

  • Communicate the status and results of tests as needed

  • Research customer specifications, design validation requirements, field failures, and Government mandates (FMVSS, EPA, etc.) to recommend a course of testing

  • Perform appropriate analysis and/or tests to ensure performance, durability, and safety criteria are met

  • Survey plans, concepts, and findings clearly and concisely by means of drawings, sketches, and oral and written communication

  • Work well and serve in a team environment

  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with Oshkosh Corporation departmental staff including Product-Line Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Marketing as well as with vendors and consultants

  • Utilize various state-of-the-art engineering tools, i.e., a personal computer (PC) or computer-aided design equipment, in assigned projects as applicable

  • Supervise subordinate engineers and technicians as required to accomplish testing

  • Direct support of customers and test programs, to include travel to off-site locations as necessary to accomplish assigned engineering programs

  • May represent testing at design reviews and technical coordination meetings

  • Maintain a high awareness and standard of safety

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or similar engineering

  • 8-plus years related experience

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous work in an R&D environment

  • CATIA V5 experience

  • Strong project planning, good technical writing skills, and experience in creating test procedures and

  • test reports

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with automotive or heavy-duty vehicle equipment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
