Clarke Community School District is looking to hire an Elementary School Special Education Associate for the 2023-2024 school year.

POSITION GOAL: To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource material.

SUPERVISES: Student(s)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take directions from teachers and building administrators.

  • Follow behavior management plans for individual student(s).

  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of students Individual Education Plans.

  • Assist in implementing consistent behavior management strategies and procedures.

  • Perform personal care duties for student(s) with disabilities as needed (including but not limited to: feeding, clothing, lavatory, toileting, diapering and wash-up routines)

  • Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.

  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of the teacher.

  • Has a good working relationship with all other persons.

  • Completes all other tasks assigned by the supervising teacher.

  • Attends to other such duties as may be assigned by the building principal.

  • Help children get organized for individual study.

  • Assist and work with pupils individually, particularly with those having difficulty.

  • Help in the classroom while the teacher is busy with another group of students.

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with students, parents, staff and administration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year established by the Board of Education. Pay rate and other benefits as per the negotiated contract.

EVALUATION: Evaluation procedure shall follow the Clarke Community School District board policy 411.7.
