QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred

  • Current Iowa Certificate with appropriate endorsement required

  • Successful teaching experience preferred

    Knowledge/Skills

  • Able to communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing

  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • Able to work independently and/or as a team to complete tasks and meet goals

  • Able to prioritize, organize and accomplish assigned work

  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, evaluate and revise curricula, course content, course materials and methods of instruction in line with the Iowa Core and district curriculum.

  • Contribute to the selection of materials and supplies while implementing designated curriculum.

  • Employ a variety of instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

  • Provide effective, developmentally appropriate and differentiated instruction for diverse learners.

  • Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

  • Promote student engagement in order to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student.

  • Supervise students’ work, evaluate and grade student performance, assignments and progress.

  • Follow professional practices consistent with school policies in working with students, students’ records, parents and/or colleges.

  • Maintain a professional demeanor in dealings with parents and students.

  • Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.

  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence; stay abreast of developments in the field.

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development and serves on committees as required or requested.

  • Maintain accurate, complete and appropriate records and files.

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so under reasonable terms.

  • Provide adequate information, plans and material for substitute teachers.

  • Have regular and reliable attendance.

  • Act as an advisor to student organizations.

  • Conducts lessons in a classroom setting.

  • Maintain and implement student IEP.

  • Work collaboratively with the AEA/LEA staff to ensure appropriate supports are in place.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress

  • Capable of standing for long periods of time while instructing

  • Able to work with interruptions during a work shift

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be determined in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between CCEA and CCSD.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between CCEA and CCSD.
