Skyworks is seeking a highly skilled Metrology Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Metrology Engineer at Skyworks, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our SAW-based RF-Filters. This position involves characterization of material properties, developing new metrology applications, collaborating with process engineers to interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and optimize production processes. The Metrology Engineer will be part of the SAW Technology Integration Team and located in Osaka.

Job Description

The job will involve the following functions:

  • Conduct comprehensive characterization of materials used for SAW-based RF-Filters, contributing to continuous improvement of product quality.

  • Drive the evolution of measurement system capabilities and processes to meet technical device roadmaps in collaboration with R&D and Operations.

  • Develop and sustain various metrology processes to ensure accuracy, precision, and reliability in measuring critical parameters.

  • Utilize appropriate metrology tools for defect reviews, ensuring thorough analysis and resolution to maintain high product quality standards.

  • Implement monitoring concepts for high-volume manufacturing, ensuring consistent and reliable production processes.

  • Work collaboratively with process engineers to interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and optimize processes for enhanced efficiency.

  • Document and communicate best-known practices to assist process engineers in understanding metrology results and the capabilities of relevant tools.

  • Provide new learnings and development to team members through documentation, presentations, and training sessions.

  • Evaluate and benchmark new metrology equipment to stay at the forefront of technological advancements.

  • Partner with metrology equipment vendors to continuously improve software/hardware and develop new measurement techniques.

    Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in metrology, with a focus on material characterization (AFM, XRD, FTIR, Picosecond ultrasonics, SIMS and comparable)

  • Strong proficiency in driving measurement system capabilities and processes (GR&R, SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues in a manufacturing environment.

  • Effective communication skills for documentation, presentations, and knowledge sharing.

  • Proactive and collaborative approach to working in cross-functional teams.

  • Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing concepts and processes.

  • Excellent communication skills, professional level of written and verbal communication in English.
