Mitchell County Regional Health PRN Paramedic #1203 in Osage, Iowa

Based on Experience | Until Filled (CST) | Osage, IA, USA | Hourly | EMS | PRN, as needed

Shifts: 12 hour shifts as needed.

JOB SUMMARY The position functions so as to support the policies and procedures of the Emergency Services Department and the Mitchell County Regional Health Center. This position maintains the highest possible standards in order to provide the highest level of care and treatment to persons utilizing the ambulance service. This position may require staffing of ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle) and responding to calls immediately and managing patients independently. The Paramedic is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA. Be prepared to respond rapidly and safely to emergency in response area. B. Critical thinking, scene control, assessment, and gaining access to injured patients (i.e. disentanglement, extrication).C. Provides competent patient care to the above-indicated patient populations. D. Transport and treatment of patients established in protocols per EMS guidelines.E. Documents in the medical record and communicates pertinent patient information in a timely and accurate manner.F. Maintains clinical duties, as Paramedic providing care appropriate to age, growth and development needs of the patient.G. Assists nursing and support staff in patient care and participates in department quality improvement process, adapting positively to change, assisting the department in achieving identified outcomes as priorities allow, at the level trained, under the supervision of the provider, according to each department's policies and procedures.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONSA. Education: 1. State of Iowa Paramedic, Paramedic, or Paramedic Specialist Required2. BLS & ACLS Required3. National Registry Certification Paramedic preferred4. Emergency Vehicle Driving Safety course preferredB. Experience1. 2 years previous healthcare or Ambulance experience preferred. C. Special Skills & Aptitudes1. Able to deal tactfully with the public and staff and work harmoniously with other personnel. 2. Able to function independently in high stress situations and provide competent care.3. Able to take charge and lead other crew members in patient care and all aspects related to EMS4. Able to obtain and maintain a valid driver license.5. If over 21 years of age; current state Driver's License in good standing and insurable 6. If over 21 years of age; satisfactory driving record in accordance with the MCEMS Driving Policy.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTSA. Able to squat lift and transfer over 100 lb with assistance. B. The original will be maintained in the Human Resources Department and a copy in the Ambulance Department.
