Your Opportunity as the Sourcing Manager, Packaging Location: Orrville, Corporate Offices Work Arrangements: Hybrid, 30% in office expectations (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday on core weeks) In this role you will: Develops, secures alignment and implements the strategic vision for the packaging team Aids in setting packaging KPIs and objectives for team members, including the procurement strategy and execution plan Develop, maintain, and execute sourcing strategies (using appropriate tools including industry analysis, supplier analysis, benchmarking, etc.) Lead activities required to plan, source, negotiate, and implement the purchasing of specific material categories Potential Categories include: Blow Molding, Injection-molded plastics, Thermoform plastics, Metal cans and closures, Plastic closures, Glass, Unprinted & Printed rollstock cups (Portion control), Flexibles, Bags/Pouches, Folding Cartons, Corrugated, Displays, Labels and other small spend categories Support across all SBAs within The Smucker Co, including in-network operations and contract manufacturing sites with required Smucker items Document, negotiate, and administer master supply agreements (payment terms, working capital, etc.) Manage and enhance relationships with suppliers Identify and mitigate risks for the business, such as commodity price volatility, supply chain risk, and material quality issues Identify cost savings, value engineering, and/or continuous improvement opportunities Participate/lead in quarterly and annual assessments of supplier performance Manage and track cost savings and innovation projects Support with the resolution of supply chain issues by working across cross-functional teams Provide cross functional communication and alignment with customer/supply base Strive to deliver the best-balanced choice while providing options to the business Develop and maintain work plan; advance skills training and career development Complete annual standard cost setting requirements and revise as business dictates Daily management (PO administration, price variance, blocked invoices, etc.) The Right Role for You We are bold, kind, strive to do the right thing, we play to win, and we believe in a strong community that thrives together. What we are looking for: Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree 5+ years of Purchasing or related supplier management experience Strong analytical process skills with the ability to use written information and numerical data to make decisions or solve problems Ability to establish personal credibility and exhibit strong communication skills, both verbal and written Effectively collaborates with customers and cross-functional teams to gain alignment/support Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities and organize daily activities in order to meet business needs Ethical, trustworthy, and dependable with focus on customer needs and objectives Ability to work well with cross functional teams, external supply teams, and other business partners; actively participates in meetings Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Oracle, Scout, Spotfire) Some business travel required Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role: Consumer Packaged Goods experience is a plus, specifically packaging Ability to work accurately and successfully with a limited amount of direction Ability to learn & apply new information quickly; anticipate problems before they occur; use logic and intuition to define problems/solutions Demonstrate strong leaders
