The Toro Company Process Engineer - Ventrac in Orrville, Ohio

Who Are We?    

Ventrac, located in Orville, Ohio, is a division of The Toro Company. Ventrac is a premier innovator of equipment for turf and landscape grounds management, sidewalk snow removal, and specialty grounds care maintenance. Built for performance with quality to last, Ventrac equipment is ideal for golf course turf management, sports fields, collegiate campuses, residential and commercial property maintenance, and public green spaces.

This process engineer assesses VPI production processes at all levels, identifies & researches opportunities for improvement, reviews the costs & benefits of these opportunities with relevant managers (e.g. production leaders, I.T. persons, Facilities & Equipment Engineering, etc.), and serves as (co-) project manager for implementing these projects.

What Will You Do? 

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Design, implement, & refine both new & current VPI production processes.

  • Identify & assess improvement opportunities in VPI manufacturing processes.

  • Research and present proposed changes for approval

  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of approved project.

  • Interface with other departments to accomplish project goals.

  • Help setup and/or perform maintenance on said processes (which may include working with contractors to repair CNC machine, or assessing & installing software revisions, etc.).

  • Other tasks as assigned

What Do You Need? 

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical, preferred)

  • Strong process, problem solving and organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated with excellent project and time management skills

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team

  • Strong interpersonal skills – professional, courteous, friendly and helpful

  • Successfully demonstrated strong verbal communication

  • Excellent computer and keyboarding skills (Microsoft Office, Internet)

  • Physically able to safely operate machinery and equipment, including power tools, forklifts and scissor lifts

  • Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs.

Engineer I-0-2 years of experience in manufacturing environment.

Engineer II- 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Engineer IIII-5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects

  • Experience performing cost benefit analysis for project proposals

  • LEAN and/or Six Sigma manufacturing training

  • Experience using Solid Edge or CAD 3D software

  • Comprehension of PLC’s (programmable logic controllers)

  • MIG welding experience and basic metallurgy
