THE ROLE:

The Server Engineer Lead is a mid-level technical role in the Digital Technology organization that provides day-to-day operational support and troubleshooting for the Windows server and compute stack environments. This role also participates as an active member of project teams. It is expected that this role will operate independently, solve complex problems, fulfill requests, and be accountable for delivering outcomes with moderate amount of supervision.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Participate in complex business, infrastructure, and security projects. Maintain an understanding of all server components of the environment in order to support most aspects from end to end.

  • Learn and adopt new technologies and best practices for cloud, continuous integration, automation, and process improvement. Actively support the creation and advancement of the strategic roadmap.

  • Continuously monitor and analyze components of the ecosystem and support activities to augment or reallocate capacity as necessary.

  • Maintain close relationships with adjacent teams, including network, identity management, storage, data protection, and applications.

  • Document and follow standards, policies and procedures for change management and server systems.

  • Resolve incidents, requests and problem resolution within the windows and Compute technologies, hardware, and ecosystem.

  • Support Windows OS servers running various software applications.

  • Maintain and upgrade the OS. Install and test OS patches.

  • Configure and manage OS networking.

  • Perform user administration tasks (resource assignment, user/group management, etc.)

  • Provide proactive recommendations on areas of improvement.

  • Detect and troubleshoot system operational and functional issues.

  • Perform maintenance routines to ensure continuous system availability and performance.

  • Configure and manage operating system security and security agents.

  • Collaborate with teams providing services such as network, storage, data protection & security.

  • Develop, maintain, and support PowerShell and other scripting to automate tasks.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation in order to provide 24/7 support and escalation.

  • Complete required audit reporting as necessary for SOX, etc.

  • Act with a sense of urgency to achieve business outcomes.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE:

  • Must be a US PERSON

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and/or certifications.

  • 5+ years supporting Windows Server operating systems in an enterprise VMWare environment.

  • 5+ years supporting Active Directory environments.

  • Experience in medium or large network environments.

  • Ability to interact with teams to build strong relationships at all levels and across all business units.

  • Strong understanding of the business impact of IT tools, technologies, and policies.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with the IT organization, management, and business personnel.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant industry recognized certifications

  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, etc.

  • Experience with observability and visualization tools.

  • Information Technology experience within the manufacturing industry.

  • 3+ years’ experience with Dell and HPE server hardware environments.

  • Experience working in medium to large Storage Area Network environments.

  • Experience working in Microsoft System Center.

  • Experience working with Group Policy management.

  • Hands-on experience in a Windows server environment including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

  • Experience working in a ServiceNow CMDB environment.
