Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, the Senior Manager/Global Tax Provision contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.

Specific Job Summary

The Senior Tax Manager/Global Tax Provision will report to the AVP/Tax Provision and:

Manages certain aspects of the MVW quarterly and annual tax provisions and tax return compliance and assists AVPs and Directors with the global provision.

Assists AVPs and Directors with income tax audits and notices.

Reviews to ensure information received and used in tax provision reporting is complete and accurate (e.g. GAAP to tax, return to provision adjustments).”

Manages GAAP to local tax reconciliations working with internal and external resources to ensure completeness and accuracy for the Company's tax provision and tax returns.

Monitors, researches, and evaluates accounting and tax legislation impacting MVW and drafts memos to support MVW's position.

Coordinates with accounting team to ensure entity accounting is accurate for tax sensitive accounts.

Assists AVPs and Directors with tax automation and process improvement projects.

Ensures internal and external team workflow and timelines are met.

Ensures adherence to corporate tax accounting policies and procedures to proactively identify areas of improvement creating an atmosphere of strong controls and compliance.

Communicates best practices to facilitate effective and efficient accounting guidelines.

Develops training and reporting reports and tools to ensure strong focus and understanding of business factors.

Performs other similar duties as required.

Expected Contributions

  • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Research and document US and non-US ASC 740 tax reporting requirements.

  • Assist the AVP/Domestic Provision and the AVP/International Provision to implement and document processes to ensure compliance with SEC rules for accounting for income tax (ASC 740).

  • Analyzes and reviews US book to tax adjustments to be utilized for periodic estimated payments and quarterly tax provisions, and provides analysis performed to the domestic compliance team to incorporate into the US income tax returns.

  • Assist with gathering and review of US GAAP to Local GAAP and Local GAAP to tax adjustments to be utilized for the quarterly tax provision.

  • Analyzes and reviews US and non-US deferred tax adjustments to ensure they are documented and reconciled to the general ledger on an annual basis.

  • Ensures the US and non-US deferred tax balances are fully supported to reflect future tax reversal/recognition of the domestic US GAAP to US and non-US tax differences.

  • Assists in documenting and reporting financial statement tax risk and work closely to review tax reserve analysis to ensure tax risk is captured in the MVWC financials.

  • Assist with domestic income tax audits and notices, including data gathering and review, as well as drafting up responses.

  • Assist in OneSource OTP system review, design, and controls.

  • Assist in OneSource DataFlow system review, design, and controls.

  • Assists with other tax transformation projects to improve processes for the MVWC tax provision process.

  • Creates efficient and effective tools to report information needed for tax provision and estimated payments for US and non-US entities.

  • Documents and maintains policies and procedures for the US and non-US operations.

  • Ensures internal and external team workflow and timelines are met.

  • Assist US and non-US tax team members with projects in support of the tax team success.

  • Performs special projects as requested.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

  • Generally a professional position with specific knowledge in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology). College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile Education

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA or Masters of Taxation preferred

Experience

  • At least five (5) years of relevant corporate tax experience with either a public accounting firm or within a corporate tax department with a similar size organization, or a combination of experience. Solid understanding and experience with federal tax accounting and provision, tax analysis, tax research, and federal tax compliance.

  • Solid understanding of accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC740.

  • Experience with using automated tax provision systems (e.g. OneSource Tax Provision) preferred.

  • Experience leading and managing tax initiatives.

  • Proven history of consistently delivering results.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point. Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.

  • Proven ability to adapt to a constantly changing, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
