KBR Instructional Systems Designer in Orlando, Florida

Title:

Instructional Systems Designer

KBR is seeking an Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) to support our government client in Orlando, FL. This ISD will support courseware development for trainers and simulators of Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) and potentially other vessels and/or systems.

  • In this role, you will be working on a KBR team which provides engineering, logistics management, and instructional system design support to DoD organizations developing trainers and simulators for military aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, naval surface vessels, and unmanned/semi-autonomous watercraft.

  • This is a local position. Daily work can be performed onsite or remotely with onsite in-person meetings at Orlando, FL occurring 2 - 4 times per month.

  • This ISD is anticipated to travel 2 - 4 times per year.

    Role and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with instructors, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and other ISD personnel to collect training course data such as course objectives, lesson plans, and trainee guides.

  • Author, review, and/or revises course content and objectives.

  • Conducts Analyses including, but not limited to, Front End Analysis (FEA), Job Duty Task Analysis (JDTA), and Media Analysis.

  • Enters Government Furnished Information (GFI) into Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM), Content Planning Module (CPM) and Learning Object (LO) Module to support course development while adhering to military standards such as MIL-PRF-29612 and NAVEDTRA 130 series of manuals.

  • Performs analysis work on Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE) systems.

  • Communicates with management, colleagues, and various stakeholders in weekly meetings.

  • Provides input for monthly project status reports.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Workforce Education and Development (or related discipline ) plus at least 6 years of instructional design work experience.

  • Has in-depth knowledge of military standards and processes related to training and curriculum development such as MIL-PRF-29612 and NAVEDTRA 130 series of manuals.

  • Previous analysis experience is required.

  • Eligibility for a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

  • Must be able to travel to the government client facilities in Orlando, FL as required. Proximity to Orlando, FL to enable collaboration via face-to-face meetings with government clients is required.

  • Ability to work on a diverse team.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work in a virtual/remote environment.

    Preferred Skills:

  • Master's Degree

  • Existing DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • Previous experience using the OPNAVINST 1500.76 series.
