The role you’ll contribute:

Under general supervision, the Semi Truck Driver is responsible for the transport of linen and/or supplies between the Laundry and hospitals, nursing homes, etc. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork

  • Performs pre-and post-check inspections on tractors driven and trailers hauled. Reports any malfunction to supervisor.

  • Opens trailer, inspects that shore bar and strap are properly installed according to established procedures, corrects if needed.

  • Transports clean and soiled linen on linen carts to and from one or more locations following driving protocol for shifting loads. Reports any accident, no matter how small, as soon as it happens.

  • Drives in a safe, careful manner, including idling tractor and trailer in 1st or 2nd gear over all curbs and speed bumps.

  • Loads and unloads trailer/truck when required, ensuring that all linen carts are delivered are returned. Reports any discrepancies upon return to the laundry.

  • Maintains established schedule coordinated with Environmental Services to facilitate the most efficient delivery.

  • Checks in with Laundry Assistant on dock for trailers to be moved upon return from each run. Spots trailers, checks for proper distance from dock, and adjusts landing gear for correct trailer level.

  • Completes all items in the daily driver log and, soiled return reports and accurately scales returned linen into the linen management software.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Ability to operate a semi tractor with a 27’ to 53’ trailer

• Ability to communicate in English, both written and verbal

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

  • Valid Florida Commercial Drivers License (CDL) – Class “A” and driving record in accordance with AdventHealth policy

  • Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate
