Position Announcement

 

Utah Valley University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach in the Art & Design department.

 

Summary of Responsibilities

 

Under administrative direction from the program coordinator, department chairperson, and dean, the individual shall perform some or all of the following duties:

• Plan, prepare, and teach assigned courses.

• Create effective course materials including syllabi, course schedules, assignments, lectures, and tests as needed.

• Maintain course materials on the Instructure Canvas Learning Management System.

• Instruct, supervise, and motivate students in classrooms.

• Maintain a student-oriented approach to education and provide a safe and welcoming classroom environment.

• Provide constructive project feedback to students.

• Maintain and submit accurate attendance reports.

• Grade project submissions and submit final grades in a timely manner at the end of each block or semester.

• Coordinate with the program coordinator, department chairperson, and academic advisors as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in the subject matter OR a combination of professional experience and education.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's or doctorate degree in subject matter or a closely related area and one year of teaching or closely related professional experience.

 

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

 

• Extensive knowledge of subject matter and course content of assigned courses.

• Ability to create effective course materials.

• Ability to use the Instructure Canvas Learning Management System.

• Ability to instruct, supervise, and motivate students.

• Ability to effectively manage large groups of people.

• Proven skills in teaching and/or public speaking.
