KBR Technical Illustrator/Writer in Orange Park, Florida

Title:

Technical Illustrator/Writer

KBR is seeking a Technical Writer to join our Team. In this role, you will design and develop graphics and illustrations for use in technical materials, manuals, and publications in close collaboration with technical writers, engineers, and subject matter experts.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Operates computer hardware and software to prepare, revise, print and store text, illustrations, graphs, charts, etc.

  • Renders concept art and technical illustrations from models, sketches, memory, written or verbal instructions, and imagination.

  • Selects type, places lettering, lays out material, or performs related duties.

  • Determines style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conforms to reproduction requirements or follows specific instructions regarding these variables.

  • Works with internal and external customers to ensure that technical documentation is complete and accurate.

  • Attends multiple complex meetings and is expected to always represent the company in a professional manner.

  • Coordinates with other internal support organizations, NATEC, and other external organizations as needed.

  • Assists in establishing style guidelines for text and illustrations. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with at least 2 years of related experience. In lieu of formal education, 10 years of equivalent related experience.

  • Must have - Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator experience.

  • Experience working with military technical documents, delivery, and integrated logistics support (ARs, MIL STDs and MIL-PRFs, IETMs, TPDRs, DIDs, etc.) is recommended.

  • Naval aviation maintenance experience is a plus.

  • Must be able to prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customer.

  • Must be flexible and can adapt to new information and programs.

  • Must have the ability to research, review, and understand technical information and develop procedural information for technical documentation.

  • Must have the ability to translate written requests to visual illustrations through an iterative process, collaboration, relying on end user requirements, engineering data, and subject matter expert input.

  • Must be able to work flexible work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.

  • Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

  • Be able to convert source files (.AI, .PDF, .PNG, etc.) to a CGM format output.

  • Has the ability to research, write, edit and proofread technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications.

Preferred Skills:

  • An active secret level security clearance is preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint.

  • Familiarity with XML integrated graphics (hotspots, etc.)

  • Experience with ASD S1000D process Data Modules.

  • SDI Editor, VizEx Editor, IsoDraw, SolidWorks and/or Catia experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development procedures using S1000D, and DoD MIL-STDs; Document Type Definitions, and style sheets used to develop product deliverables for all classes of IETMs is a plus.

  • Experience with the EAGLE Publishing System, the NAVAIR Enterprise Common Source Data Base (highly desirable) or equivalent capability.
