[Job Summary: Provide a safe, secure environment for JKV residents, employees, visitors, and property [Essential Functions and Responsibilities: ]{new="" roman="" times=""}]{new="" roman="" times=""}

  • Provide staffing at all JKV entry gate houses, confirming approved access of all vehicle entries;
  • Patrol on foot, security vehicle or golf cart all buildings and grounds ensuring safety and suspicious activity are handled in accordance to JKV Security policies and procedures;
  • Provide welfare checks on residents and assist with other duties in the absence of facilities or transportation staff.
  • Answer telephone, route calls to appropriate staff and provide general assistance to the caller.
  • Write incident reports and operate a computer with basic data entry and Microsoft Office skills;
  • Effectively deals with stressful situations, remains calm and stays mentally sharp, assuring sound judgement by referring to security policies and procedures;
  • Respond and dispatch all code calls, motor vehicle incidents and any suspicious activity reports;
  • Locking and unlocking of buildings and application of requested lock-outs by residents or staff;
  • Communicates with security staff and other departmental staff on a hand-held 2-way radio;
  • Works cooperatively in a team environment and able to follow instructions given by supervisor or manager;

  • Assists as instructed by the resident nurse in lifting and transferring residents;
  • Other duties as requested or assigned.

  • Routinely patrols inside and outside of buildings requiring extensive walking and standing;
  • Routinely works various shifts and days and stay mentally sharp
  • Exposures to all types of weather, noise, odors, chemicals temperature, infectious diseases, etc.
  • On-call or overtime requirements 24/7
  • Prolonged standing or sitting
