Employee Signature Date JOHN KNOX VILLAGE Job Description Position: Certified Nursing Assistant Supervisor: Assistant Director of Nursing Job Summary: To provide routine nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations, and to assure resident safety. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provide nursing care/personal hygiene to an assigned group of residents within the scope of practice permitted by certification. Assist other residents as needed or at the direction of the charge nurse or supervisor. Assure that residents are dressed appropriately and that clothing is neat, clean and presentable. Receive assignment and review CNA Care Plan at the beginning of the shift. Make rounds to assure residents are clean, comfortable and not in any distress. Report any adverse findings to the charge nurse immediately. Complete necessary documentation accurately prior to the end of the shift. Encourage resident to function at the highest level of independence, providing assistance or use of supportive devices when ordered. Adhere to infection control guidelines according to established infection control policies and procedures. Keep environment clean and safe. Keep hallways free of clutter. Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges as requested and according to facility policy. Assist with orientation of new employees, providing support and direction. Communicate to charge nurse any additional training needs identified. Attend orientation and in-service as required by facility policy or state and federal regulations. Attend CNA meetings as directed by nurse management. Assist residents with hydration and nutritional intake as outlined in residents care plan. Encourage residents to participate in activities and social functions, assist with transportation as needed. Maintain the residents room and bathroom in a neat and orderly fashion. Store all personal hygiene items according to facility policy. Ensure that wheelchair legs are properly stored in the residents closet when not in use. Provide fresh ice water during shift. Participate in the Restorative Nursing program as directed. Assure resident safety at all times. Other Functions and Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned Working Conditions: Usually works indoors but may have to work outside during outside events and parties. May have to get into awkward positions or work in cramped spaces. May be exposed to loud noises or sounds that are distracting. May be exposed to diseases or infections from contact with residents or other staff members. Often exposed to contaminants. May sometimes need to wear safety gear such as gloves and or masks.

Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance Must meet all local health regulations and post offer physical exam.
