What you'll do Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Physical Therapy Assistant, the Rehabilitation Services Aide (Rehab Aide) performs only delegated, selected or routine tasks. The Rehab Aide helps therapists to promote patient satisfaction and provides support for therapy staff by preparing patients to receive therapy treatments and preparing clinical areas before and after patient treatments. The Rehab Aide provides patient transport, assists with ensuring safe patient handling, assists patients in ambulation and mobility needs, and records activity on a daily log. The Rehab Aide maintains adequate inventory of office supplies and therapy consumable supplies and/or equipment. The Rehab Aide may additionally perform clerical duties and participate in administrative or operational aspects of the department at the direction of a coordinator, supervisor, or manager of Rehabilitation Services. Provides support and assists therapy staff as directed before, during and/or after patient treatment sessions (Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and assists patients practicing exercises and functional activities, secures patients into or onto therapy equipment, under direct supervision of Physical and/or Occupational Therapists) Carries out maintenance therapy programs under the direct supervision of Physical and/or Occupational Therapists, and documents appropriately in the patient medical record Reports any unanticipated reaction to treatment, or change in status, to Physical and/or Occupational Therapist, or appropriate licensed medical professional Demonstrates basic knowledge of preparation and/or application of therapy modalities, under direct supervision of licensed Physical or Occupational therapist or therapy assistant. Maintains clean working environment according to infection control practices by disinfecting equipment, changing linens, and organizing/preparing work space between patient treatments or as directed Transports patients to/from therapy appointments, maintaining compliance with safety and infection control policies Monitors, orders, and/or restocks therapy supplies to maintain adequate inventory Performs equipment and/or device checks and maintain logs per manufacturer’s instructions for use (i.e. hydrocollators, paraffin bath, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, fans, freezers) Answers the phone in a prompt, friendly, helpful manner and demonstrates appropriate telephone etiquette; answer questions and provides information in a helpful and courteous manner; directs incoming calls to the appropriate person or department when needed. Demonstrates basic knowledge of physical and occupational therapy equipment operation and maintenance, and/or process for maintenance requests on failed/non-operational equipment Assists in administrative, office, and/or billing tasks based on experience and at the discretion of coordinator, supervisor, and/or manager Assists in training and orientation of new staff based on experience and at the discretion of coordinator, supervisor, and/or manager Performs other duties as assigned What we need from you Education: High School Diploma/GED, required Experience: Experience working in a rehabilitation clinic or hospital/ healthcare setting, preferred License/ Certification: BLS - within 6 months from date of hire, required Skills: Communication Computer Skills Customer Service Interacting with People Listening Time Management Organizing/Categorizing records Reading/Writing/Comprehension Maintain Confidentiality Multi-Tasking Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Pay Range Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
