Mille Lacs Health System Emergency Department Technician- casual FTE in Onamia, Minnesota

Summary

Works under a Registered Nurse as well as ED Provider to perform delegated medical functions. Assists in the care and treatment of patients of all ages in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards and philosophy in order to provide quality patient care.

Job Duties

The essential functions of this job are identified with an asterisk (*) at the end of the bullet point.

  • Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Medical, Surgical (inpatient/outpatient), Emergency, Senior Care, Chemotherapy and Ambulance Transport as needed/delegated.

  • Maintains certifications in all areas within scope of practice for LPNs, Paramedic, or EMT.

  • Maintains documentation of cares provided to reflect current patient needs utilizing computerized documentation*

  • Performs with minimal supervision, exercises good judgment to reduce errors. *

  • Demonstrates willingness to work extra shifts if needed. *

  • Demonstrates a willingness to train new staff.

  • Attends annual skills fair. *

  • Uses personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the given task. *

  • Reports accidents or incidents and safety hazards promptly. *

  • Cleans equipment, spills, etc. as necessary. *

  • Identifies needs, instructs others, and actively supports the role of patient advocate/liaison by communication and documentation of patient information to the proper resources/agencies. *

  • Performs functions for HUC, Registration when needed and makes phone calls as delegated from nurse.

  • Responsible for stocking of department.

    Required Education and Experience

  • EMT/LPN/Paramedic/or Medical Assistant for minimum of one year and in good standing

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Registered as an EMT in Minnesota

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) HCP CPR certification

    Preferred Education and Experience

  • National Registry EMT-I (I f applying as EMT)

  • AHA Instructor for BLS

    Working 12 hour shifts, 8pm - 8am and every 3rd weekend
