Omaha Public Power District Senior Design Engineer (Civil-Structural Engineering) in Omaha, Nebraska

OPPD is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join their team! The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for evaluation, design, project management and construction management of modifications and capital improvements for OPPD electrical generation facilities to assure safe, economical and reliable operation. Works closely with OPPD generation facility staff, other departments within OPPD, outside vendors, and/or contractors to acquire information, resolve problems and implement solutions. Serve as an independent technical and work process resource.

  • Provide professional engineering design services for OPPD electrical generating facilities to assure safe, economical and reliable operation.

  • Provide project management services to assure economic, quality and timely completion of multiple assigned projects.

  • Provide construction management services to assure quality installation of new systems and/or equipment for OPPD electrical generating facilities.

    Qualifications

Required:

  • Four (4) year Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical/Civil-Structural/Electrical Engineering or other Engineering degree related to power generation (ABET accredited degree)

  • Professional Engineering Registration in the State of Nebraska or means for reciprocity within six (6) months

  • Five (5) years professional experience in design engineering and project management. Master's degree may be considered for up to two years of experience.

  • Ability to perform complex engineering tasks and perform intricate studies

  • Demonstrated awareness of industry changes and advancements

  • Demonstrated industry wide expertise

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated effective analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, exercise flexibility and take responsibility for assigned work

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously with frequent changing priorities

  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a professional and respectful manner

  • Ability to chair a working group or task force

  • Strong negotiating skills

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver¿s license

Desired:

  • Engineering related experience at a power generating facility or in a related field

  • Working knowledge of OPPD work processes and computer systems

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Advanced Degree (MBA or MS)

Salary Grade: S6

Minimum: $104,645

Midpoint: $130,806
