Description

Cargo and Mail Agents routes inbound and outbound air cargo and USPS mail shipments to their destinations by taking telephone orders from customers and arranges for pickup of freight and delivery to the loading area and scanning/sorting inbound and outbound mail.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Receive and answer inquiries from the public, other airlines, agencies, and Company employees.

  • Receive, deliver, and process cargo and Comat.

  • Scan and sort inbound and outbound mail.

  • Expedite and route incoming and outgoing cargo, freight, and mail shipments to and from docks.

  • Physically handle Cargo and Comat, manually and/or by machine (i.e. Forklift).

  • Track shipments for customers and arrange to pick up of freight and cargo for delivery to the loading dock.

  • Provides cargo security screening of all cargo.

  • Loads and offloads cargo onto and out of carts.

  • Accept and process Hazardous/Restricted material shipments in accordance with Company and Governmental rules and regulations.

  • Examines manifest, bills of lading and air waybill to determine work procedures for releasing cargo.

  • Authorizes final approval for cargo release.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Friendly and outgoing personality.

  • Be self-motivated and a team worker.

  • Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Able to work in stressful situations and tight time constraints.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to complete a background check, including FBI criminal history, employment background, and pre-employment drug test.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or provide proof of right to work in the U.S.

  • Must be registered with Selective Service, if applicable.

  • Must be able to work overnight shifts and weekends and holidays.

Compensation:

  • The pay rate listed on this post, is what the company reasonably expects to pay for this position. However, individual compensation may vary based on factors including qualifications, skills, competencies, education, and experience.

Education & Experience:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

  • Previous cargo experience preferred.

Physical Experience:

  • Must be able to move and lift 70 pounds.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
