Position Overview

The Instructional Design Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience by collaborating with subject matter experts and content creators to develop relevant and impactful training programs. This position involves creating instructional materials and visuals for both live and online training sessions, ensuring alignment with established style guidelines to communicate messages effectively. The Instructional Design Specialist will leverage technology to produce engaging written content and multimedia scripts while also refining course materials through an iterative design process to maintain accuracy and quality. A strong focus on accessibility will ensure that learning resources are readily available, providing essential support to learners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent time management skills to complete projects efficiently, adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.

This position is based out of our Headquarters in Omaha, NE. This is a shared service center in a professional office setting.

Responsibilities

  • Foster Collaborative Relationships: Supports experts and content creators to design educational programs that are relevant and easily applicable to everyday work scenarios.

  • Create Technical Content: Build instructional materials and visuals in support of content creator and learning objectives for both live and online training sessions.

  • Design with Purpose: Works within established style guidelines to design elements like colors, images, and fonts that are professional and effectively communicate the intended message.

  • Utilize Technology: Employ the right tools to develop compelling written content and multimedia scripts, which will be used to guide instructors and participants, as well as create supporting materials.

  • Refine and Improve: Participate in the iterative design process of updating and improving course materials, ensuring accuracy and quality.

  • Enhance Accessibility: Use technology to make learning resources more readily available, providing timely educational support.

  • Carry Out Assignments Efficiently: Effectively manages time spent on projects to ensure they are on-time and under budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or Graphic Design preferred.

  • 3+ years of instructional design development, graphic development, or writing/communication experience.

  • Technical graphics experience such as construction details, scale drawings, process diagrams.

  • Experience with graphic design tools (Examples: Adobe, Affinity, CorelDRAW, etc.)

  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.

  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
