Boys Town HVAC Mechanic in Omaha, Nebraska

Maintains and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Installs and maintains heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance such as changing filters, lubricating equipment, and balancing airflow.

  • Mounts, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs ductwork, compressors, icemakers, pressure gauges, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, and boilers.

  • Evaluates equipment or systems for hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Evaluates building performance using computer application.

  • Advises department managers on control systems changes, layouts, and design.

  • Receives written information per job order; completes service order forms, and records work performed, duration, and materials used.

  • Maintains shop materials; tracks and completes necessary equipment certifications to fulfill licensing requirements.

  • Drives Boys Town vehicles as needed to complete duties of the job.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of a broad range of HVAC practices, techniques, tools, equipment, and safety procedures.

  • Skills in installation, repair, or restoration HVAC systems.

  • Understands and interprets written and verbal instructions and ability to communicate with individuals in an articulate, professional manner.

  • Organizes assigned tasks for completion.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience including HVAC rquired.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required.

  • On-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support and many work evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed required.

  • EPA Certification required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in HVAC preferred.
