Honeywell Electrical Engineer I in Olathe, Kansas

This Global Repair & Overhaul Engineering (GROE) position is responsible for creating electrical engineering solutions to sustain and grow Honeywell’s Avionics Repair & Overhaul (R&O) business through cost reduction and repair capability expansion. This position is located at the Honeywell Olathe Service Center within the Americas Service Center (ASC) network of the Honeywell Aerospace Integrated Supply Chain (ISC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Use basic electronics knowledge and engineering discipline to complete engineering tasks

  • Identify opportunities for repair cost reduction and manage projects from solution development through deployment

  • Expand avionics repair capability by developing and deploying new repair processes, and interact with the entry-into-service process for repair of newly developed products

  • Introduce new technology and find new applications of existing technology to improve repair shop business performance

  • Interact with avionics product design engineering, test design engineering, and service center staff to resolve issues with product modification, upgrades, investigations, and repair of test equipment.

  • Actively seek out and identify areas to standardize avionics repair and test procedures across sites for productivity improvements

  • Lead cross-functional teams through the Corrective Action Request (CAR) process and negotiate solutions to prevent defects from being introduced into product repair processes.

  • Interact with internal and external customers and suppliers about status on resolutions for problems such as repair delivery disruptions, no-fault-found situations, warranty review, and first-year-in-service failures

  • Perform avionics bench test system troubleshooting and repairs, and implement engineering solutions to prevent test equipment down-time

  • Provide facts and research to internal customers to justify funding of capital purchases by using quantified business impacts such as ROI, payback period, and NPV

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

Bachelor of Science degree

  • Knowledge of avionics products and systems such as cockpit displays, electromechanical instruments, flight controls, FMS, autopilot, inertial navigation, GPS, DME, ILS, nav/com radios, satcom, radio altimeters, weather radar, transponders, TCAS, EGPWS, and flight recorders

  • Understanding of FAR 21 (OEM) and FAR 145 (repair) regulation concepts

  • Familiarity with guidelines DO-178, DO-254 and DO-160

  • Understanding of product and test system configuration management

Ability to learn and comply with import and export regulations (EAR and ITAR)
