Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: It is the responsibility of this role to set up and oversee molding machine operation to ensure quality,efficiencyand to occasionally serve as back up in the absence of a Shift Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform start and/or restart of equipment (molding machines, support equipment).

  • Visually inspect molds, machines and support equipment for worn parts or safety hazards.

  • Assess mold processes to assure optimum cycle times vs. standards while maintaining efficient quality performances.

  • Troubleshoot processes, systems and equipment to improve efficiencies.

  • Perform cleaning and lubrication of molds and equipment as needed or directed.

  • Safely remove purge from molding machines.

  • Test sample resins and colors as required.

  • Review production schedules and ensure machines are running production to meet customer demands.

  • Respond to alarms and/or requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions and/or Packer/Handler problems.

  • Use proper Lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctions.

  • Inspect scrap to prevent any usable product from being ground and record scrap numbers.

  • Exemplifies the Berry Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written

  • Must be able to read and complete various forms in writing and on the computer.

  • Prior plastic injection molding experience is highly preferred.

  • Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.

  • Possess or obtain a technical understanding of injection-molding processes and procedures.

  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.

  • Good hand-eye coordination is required.

  • Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Frequent exposure to production floor; required use of PPE including but not limited to: Bump Cap, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hair/beard nets, Hearing Protection and Disposable Mask, if required.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.

  • Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.

  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
