The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapyservices including treatment, implementation and documentation under thedirection of the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician’s planof care.

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Provides physicaltherapy according to the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapistand in accordance with the physician’s plan of care according to stateregulations

  • Treats individuals to help relieve pain, develops orrestores function, and maintains Amergisum functional mobility and performance

  • Continues to assess the client’s living environment forbarriers, safety risks and equipment needs

  • Directs and aids clients in active, passive and resistivetherapeutic exercises, muscle re- education, functional gait and balancetraining, transfer activities, and prosthetic training

  • Instructs care and use of assistive mobility devices, bracesand prosthetic or orthotic devices

  • Utilizes physical agents, including but not limited to heat,cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage

  • Cleans and maintains equipment used in the field inaccordance with manufactures directions and per policy

  • Instructs and educates individual, family, and/or caregiversin the use of and care of therapeutic appliances

  • Reports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in conditionto physician and Physical Therapist

  • Identifies individual and family/caregiver needs for othersupportive services and notifies Physical Therapist

  • Maintains communication with the company and other personnelcaring for the client to assure that their efforts effectively complement eachother and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care

  • Prepares and submits clinical progress-summaries based onthe progress toward goals and responses to treatment

  • Participates in discharge planning

  • Provides/submits accurate and timely documentation that isconsistent with the plan of care

  • Complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws andregulations regarding professional standards and practice standards

  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in thestate of practice

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical TherapyAssistant

  • One (1) year of prior professional Physical TherapyAssistant experience preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
