Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Geologist or Environmental Scientist to support our team of environmental professionals in Okemos, MI. You can expect to carry out a variety of different tasks related to environmental investigation, compliance, and remediation. You will support the completion of project level work including data management, field work, report preparation, and design components on multi-year environmental remediation/management projects. Significant decisions and deliverables reviewed by higher level staff.

As a Geologist or Environmental Scientist, you will be based out of our Okemos, MI office working approximately 40 hours/week. Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for extended periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Candidate must be willing, and have the ability to travel, and on occasion, spend time working away from home or office. Work hours may exceed 40 hours/week when conducting field work.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in the completion of research, assessments, studies, surveys, reports, and calculations of limited scope requiring application of prescribed technical methods under instruction from senior geologists, engineers, and/or scientists.

  • Provide project support, including project documentation (i.e., report preparation, project research, data processing, design, and various project-related tasks).

  • Compile and manage field data to be used in project work.

  • Undertake as needed field work, including construction observation as well as water, soil, and air sampling, and other field reconnaissance.

  • Coordinating with senior level staff and/or multidisciplinary team members to ensure that the project’s needs are met in a timely and effective manner.

  • May be delegated responsibility for designing and implementing projects within competencies and experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related science discipling.

  • 0-3 years of environmental consulting industry experience.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 25 lbs.

  • Must have a safe driving record and valid driver’s license.

Preferred:

  • ArcGis or AutoCAD experience.

  • Current 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper training a plus.

Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, alcohol screen and random routine drug screening during employment (client-dependent).
