The Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced and diligent Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor to tackle the day-to-day supervision of our Transportation Construction Inspectors! DESCRIPTION OF WORK: As the Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor, your role involves overseeing various technical duties related to inspecting transportation construction projects. Your main responsibility is to ensure that all work is carried out according to approved construction plans, standards, specifications, and contract documents. You exercise independent judgment in making minor on-site technical decisions, while receiving general instructions and specific objectives from a technical supervisor who reviews your work. You supervise the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established standards. Additionally, you verify cuts and fills, check elevation grades and structure stakeouts, and supervise the inspection and placement of all materials. You also interpret contract requirements to contractors and subordinates, providing instructions on sampling, testing, and inspection techniques. In addition, you assist in resolving field problems by making calculations, sketches, and reports, and maintaining required records.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Vendor controlled hours seasonally.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on an Ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
