DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

  • In this position, you will define the criteria necessary for the preparation of preliminary design submissions, plans, and special provisions for various structures, including culverts and retaining walls. You will collaborate with a technical supervisor who will assist with unusual issues and review your work upon completion to ensure accuracy and compliance with technical standards. It is essential to demonstrate the ability to apply engineering principles and practices to make informed decisions regarding work assignments. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing or reviewing comprehensive plans for bridge and structural projects, as well as managing phases of complex projects, such as multi-span concrete or steel structures, while also developing the required engineering calculations for designing simpler structures like culverts and basic span bridges.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title); or
  • Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
