CHMC –Children’s MHU- RN – Full Time- Day Shift- 7a-7:30p – Requisition 7335

A Registered Nurse in the Children’s Mental Health Department provides comprehensive emotional and physical care to child and adolescent patients in an inpatient setting with a strong interdisciplinary team approach in the provision of services. Delivering specialized, compassionate patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in a mental health setting. Effectively communicates with patients and other patient care team members to facilitate optimal patient outcomes, while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Establishes priorities for nursing action according to patient’s needs and formulates appropriate care. Performs continuous assessments and revises care plans based upon patient’s condition. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid New York State RN License, 1 year mental health experience preferred. Crisis Intervention Training within hospital orientation period. Mandated child abuse course. Trauma informed call training. Health teaching and counseling. Basic Computer knowledge. Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information. Maintaining quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory agencies. Ability to implement and support procedures and programs pertaining to patient safety and security. Ability to provide supportive, restorative care. Exhibit proficient communication skills and ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a variety of personalities. Ability to sustain attention to detail and accuracy as it pertains to the monitoring and documentation of information. Maintaining a safe and clean environment as well as maintaining infection control standards. Acknowledging changes in a patient’s condition or behavior, and promptly reporting these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel. Performing various intervention tasks assigned by the charge nurse.
